What is the lifting bar used for?
It is a steel lever used to prise up a machine of up to 5 tons just far enough to slide a timber block or the toe of a jack underneath. It is usually the first move of the whole relocation: the machine sits flat on the floor with no clearance for anything, and the bar creates that first gap. The stroke is around 90 mm — enough for a block or to get a toe in, but not enough to introduce transport skates; for that you need a toe jack.
Can the bar lift a machine high enough to slide skates underneath?
Usually not in one step. The bar gives you around 90 mm, which is enough to slide in a timber block or the toe of a jack. The standard sequence is: the bar creates the first gap, a block holds it, a toe jack raises the corner to working height, and only then do the skates go in. The bar is a tool for starting a lift, not for holding a machine — there should always be a block or a stand under a raised corner.
