Trotec BM31 moisture meter
Non-destructive moisture meter for quickly locating dampness in building materials — no drilling, no pins, no surface damage. Its dielectric measuring principle detects moisture in layers up to 40 mm deep and shows the result on a backlit display on a 0–100 digit scale. Just press it to the wall, read, keep searching — a whole cellar or wall is mapped in minutes. Min/Max and Hold functions aid documentation, and at 180 g it fits any tool bag. Ideal for detecting mould, documenting water damage, monitoring drying progress and as a fast pre-check before a CM measurement.

FAQ
Does measuring damage the walls?
No — the BM31 measures dielectrically, contact-free from the surface. No drilling electrodes, no pins, no removing tiles. Walls, floors and ceilings stay intact.
What does the Digit value (0–100) mean?
A dimensionless scale indicating the degree of dampness — not a moisture percentage. What matters is the comparison: low values at a dry reference point, clearly higher where there is moisture. Values near 0 = dry material.
Which materials can it measure?
Concrete, masonry, plaster, screed, wood, plasterboard and similar. Penetration depth 5–40 mm. Not suitable for metallic materials or deep moisture accumulations.
Does it replace a CM measurement?
No — it is an indicating device, excellent for pre-checks. For legal evidence, insurance settlements or readiness-to-lay confirmation, a CM (calcium carbide) measurement is required.
What are the Min/Max and Hold functions for?
Min/Max automatically stores the lowest and highest value of a measurement series (easy to find the hotspot). Hold freezes the reading so you can record or photograph it without keeping the device in place.
